1. INCREASED IMMUNITY
A rise in core body temperature mimics our body’s defence mechanism towards bacteria, pathogens & viruses and assists our body to fight infections. Studies conducted by the British Medical Association note that “it has become well known that people who take regular saunas reduce their incidence of colds and influenza by over 65%”.
An enhanced immune system, combined with improved elimination of toxins and wastes via intense sweating, increases your overall health and resistance to disease. White blood cells & T-cells are also increased when the body’s core the temperature raises so your body is better able to fight off infections.
2. COMBAT WINTER WEIGHT GAIN
Studies have shown that you can burn up to 600 calories per session! Not to mention the serotonin and dopamine boost which can improve your mood (goodbye winter blues) making it easier to make good food choices throughout winter when it is very common to reach for unhealthy comfort foods - good mood = good choices!
3. REDUCE STIFFNESS AND PAIN
Infrared heat penetrates the skin causing the muscles and internal organs to be heated deeply, the body responds with an increase in heart volume and rate leading to vasodilation. This increases circulation and blood flow to muscles, joints and connective tissues, which helps reduce pain and stiffness that may be caused by injury or illness.
4. ENJOY GLOWY HYDRATED SKIN ALL WINTER
Sweating helps to clean out clogged pores and pull out toxins. Studies have shown that regular infrared sauna use can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as improve overall skin tone. The infrared heat boosts the blood flow to the skin leaving you plump and glowing.
TIPS FOR A SEAMLESS SAUNA EXPERIENCE THIS WINTER
As always hydrate hydrate hydrate! During the winter months many of us tend to drink less fluids due to the colder weather - always make sure you hydrate before, during and after your session!
Wear appropriate clothing that will not only keep you warm on your way to and from the studio, but that is also easy to get back into after your session (jeans & tights can be tough to get back into when you are sweaty!) We recommend warm but loose fitting trackies or yoga pants & loose layers for on top.
Don’t feel like you have to hurry out into the cold after your session, while we do ask that you leave the sauna room as quickly as possible after receiving your cold towel so that we can prepare the room for the next clients, you are more than welcome to take advantage of our tranquil back room where you can enjoy some water or tea and cool down before you rug back up!
